About This Project
The School Solar Energy Clubs programme embeds climate and clean energy education directly into the secondary school experience across Osun State. Each participating school receives a demonstration solar installation, a structured curriculum on renewable energy and climate science, and support to establish a student-led Solar Club.
Club members learn to install, operate, and maintain small solar systems โ skills that are directly applicable in an economy where electricity remains unreliable. They also engage in peer education, community outreach, and annual competitions where student teams present innovations in clean energy.
The programme has reached 80+ schools and over 15,000 students. Many alumni have gone on to establish solar installation businesses or pursue engineering and environmental science degrees. The programme is run in partnership with the Osun State Ministry of Education and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
