About This Project
The Green Mobility Initiative addresses one of the most overlooked dimensions of urban climate action in Nigeria: transport emissions. Commercial motorcycles, tricycles (keke), and minibuses constitute a significant proportion of Osun State's carbon footprint and contribute heavily to urban air pollution.
The programme pilots electric tricycles in selected urban corridors, works with transport unions to facilitate CNG conversion for petrol-powered commercial vehicles, and advocates for dedicated cycling infrastructure in Osogbo and Ile-Ife.
The initiative collaborates with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and international clean mobility partners to source locally appropriate solutions, prioritising technologies that can be maintained and repaired within Osun State.
